KARACHI: The dollar went slightly up against the rupee in the interbank market, dealers said on Thursday. The dollar initiated the day’s trading at Rs 85.63 for buying, rose lightly by a paisa and closed at Rs 85.64 for buying and Rs 85.69 for selling. The euro also recorded gains versus the rupee as it started the day’s trading at Rs 108.67 for buying, appreciated by two paisas and closed at Rs 108.69 for buying and Rs 108.89 for selling. The pound gained strength against the rupee as it commenced the day’s trading at Rs 132.11 for buying and after gaining 83 paisas closed at Rs 132.94 for buying and Rs 133.14 for selling.

Open market: The dollar remained unchanged versus the rupee, dealers said. The dollar started the day’s trading at Rs 85.45 for buying, did not witness any change and closed at the same rate of Rs 85.45 for buying and Rs 85.75 for selling. The euro surged against the rupee, as it started the day’s trading at Rs 107.30 for buying, appreciated by 70 paisas and closed at Rs 108.00 for buying and Rs 109.50 for selling. The pound sterling witnessed major gains versus the rupee as it started the day’s trading at Rs 131.00 for buying, increased Rs 1.20 and closed at Rs 132.20 for buying and Rs 133.50 for selling. staff report
